Today’s entry in our weekly beer profile comes to us from our good friends at Rainhard Brewing Co. We never fail to show some love for Rainhard because they produce new and exciting beer all the time. Armed N’Mosaic is a twist on one of their original classics, Armed N’Citra. There was another version called Armed N’Simcoe. These beers all feature different hops as the name suggests.
All versions of this beer are pale ales but they are hop forward. These beers blur the line between pale ale and IPA.
Rainhard Brewing Co was one of the original breweries featured on Backyard Beer Tours and our guests have continually raved about the cool atmosphere in the tap-room and the high quality beer produced and served. I try to visit often to sample what they have to offer and stock my beer fridge.
Armed N’Mosaic is a hazy pale straw colour with medium carbonation and a reserved white foamy top. The aroma is tropical fruit – mango, pineapple, and papaya. The mouthfeel is rich and allows the taste of tropical fruit to reveal itself slowly. There is an earthiness about the flavour that adds complexity. An ample bitterness finishes it off.
Each version of this beer highlighted a different hop and let it shine. Citra is a very popular hop and there are lots of craft beers featuring it. Mosaic may be a little less popular but Armed N’Mosaic shows how it can shine.
