This weeks beer profile comes to us from St Jacobs, ON and Block 3 Brewing Co. It’s definitely worth the drive down the 401 for a visit to the picturesque farmers market and quaint town but don’t forget to stop in for a local craft beer at Block 3 Brewing Co.
Block 3 Brewing Co has a focus on Belgian styles and is also brewing sours, barrel-aged, and cask conditioned ales. Today, we’re profiling Beauty and the Belgian, which is an amber ale.
The colour is a dark amber with low carbonation and a reserved white top. The aroma has a bit of a Belgian funk to it, not much from the hops. The taste is a caramel sweetness with a spicy finish. Beauty and the Belgian has a medium body to it and a dry finish.
Beauty and the Belgian hits you like an amber ale, and then surprises you with a bit of spice and funk to finish. Have a look for it in your local LCBO or visit Block 3 Brewing Co on your next visit to St. Jacobs.
