Beer Profile: Chelmsford Station by Junction Craft Brewery
ABV 4.5% IBU 30
I have a soft spot in my heart for British ales. I am fortunate to visit family in the UK every year and I always look forward to enjoying some classic UK style ales while I’m there.
Chelmsford Station is styled as an “Essex Ale”, however, I think it’s just a UK style pale ale. Chelmsford is a city in the county of Essex.
The beer is an amber colour with medium carbonation, white foamy cap, and really great lacing. It’s a bit fruity and bread-like on the nose, as expected with English ales. Taste is malty and earthy hops with a bitter finish.
Chelmsford Station is a lovely English pale ale and it’s true to style. English ales in general are greatly maligned and poorly represented here in Toronto but Junction Craft Brewery pulls through with some great UK style ales. This is the perfect beer after a long, damp stomp to the pub.
