Beer Profile: Half-Truth by Halo Brewery
ABV 45.% 33IBU
One of the recent trends in craft beer is the session IPA. It’s a funny substyle of an IPA. You take the hoppiness of an IPA, but instead of the characteristic high alcohol content, you have a more sessionable lower ABV. Half-Truth, by Halo Brewery, is an entry into this style that you shouldn’t miss.
Admittedly, I am a sucker for a hop forward beer with a low ABV, but I’m not inclined to like everything that fits that bill. Half-Truth is a wonderfully session beer that doesn’t compromise anything to be lower in alcohol.
The appearance is a pale straw with high carbonation level. Aroma is strong tropical fruit with a dominant grapefruit characteristic. The flavour is really well-balanced with grapefruit coming through again. The mild bitter and dry finish is refreshing. The mouthfeel is light.
In hindsight, I should have purchased a growler of this beer (if not a whole case). Half-Truth is a full flavour IPA with a lower ABV, perfect for helping balance craft beer and responsibilities!
