Beer Profile: Maris* by Left Field Brewery

ABV 4.5% IBU 40

The boys of summer are back in town and it’s time to root, root, root for the home town breweries making great summer beers! This week’s baseball themed beer profile features an entry from Toronto’s Left Field Brewery, located in Toronto’s East End.

Left Field Brewery is a gem in Toronto. The brewery uses a baseball theme to connect with the beer lovers and fans of the game alike. Maris* is an American Pale Ale that is both a tribute to the baseball legend Roger Maris, and a distinct base malt used for brewing, Maris Otter.

The colour of Maris* is a pale straw with medium carbonation and it’s clear as a bell. I don’t get much on the nose. The flavour is of cereal grains and a hint of baked beans. There is a lingering, but soft, bitter finish.

This beer is perfect for kicking back at a barbecue or taking in a double header. Pair with hot dogs, cracker jacks, and the Blue Jays.
